Samsung Galaxy S25 Receives 24GB Firmware Update – What’s New?

Samsung has rolled out a massive 24GB firmware update for the Galaxy S25 ahead of its official launch. This update introduces several AI-powered features through One UI 7, significantly enhancing the user experience.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Series is not yet officially available for most users, but it has already received a substantial firmware update. Compared to the initial Galaxy S24 update, which was only around 14GB, the S25’s update is significantly larger.

One reason for this massive update is the inclusion of AI-driven features in One UI 7. During the Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung highlighted how AI and exclusive features like Gemini will transform smartphone usage.

Some design choices, such as the removal of Bluetooth connectivity for the S Pen and a new camera design, have received mixed reactions from users.

New Features vs. User Expectations

Despite the excitement around the new AI-powered features, some users have expressed concerns, including:

No significant hardware upgrades.
RAM and storage remain unchanged from the previous model.

However, the Samsung Galaxy S25 still offers several improvements, such as:

A better display compared to the Galaxy S24.
Enhanced camera quality due to advanced image processing.
Improved battery life.
More stable signal and connectivity.

For users interested in AI capabilities, the 24GB update marks the beginning of a new smartphone experience. The Galaxy S25 is expected to launch in mid-February 2025.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Dual 200MP and 12MP Camera Leaks

Samsung has caught the public’s attention by revealing the Galaxy S25 Edge. Although officially introduced, Samsung has yet to disclose full details about this upcoming smartphone.

Recent leaks have provided insight into the smartphone’s camera configuration. Contrary to previous rumors suggesting a triple-camera setup, the Galaxy S25 Edge is now expected to feature a dual-camera system:

200MP primary lens.
12MP ultra-wide lens.

This aligns with Samsung’s showcase at the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event. The leak comes from an anonymous source with alleged access to prototype information, meaning final specifications could still change before launch.

In addition to the camera system, rumors indicate that the Galaxy S25 Edge will feature a display protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, the same material used in the standard Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus models.

The Galaxy S25 Edge is rumored to launch in April 2024. However, Samsung has yet to confirm any official specifications or release dates.

Another key highlight of the Galaxy S25 Edge is its ultra-thin design. Leaks suggest that the device will be just 6.4mm thick, making it one of the slimmest flagship smartphones available.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Series Meets TKDN Standards

The discussion about the Local Content Requirement (TKDN) for smartphones has become a major topic, especially after Apple’s iPhone 16 reportedly failed to meet the required standards in Indonesia. Without TKDN certification, iPhone 16 cannot be sold in the country.

In contrast, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Series has swiftly secured its TKDN certification, ensuring its availability in the Indonesian market. Samsung has confirmed that its latest flagship smartphone complies with local regulations, emphasizing the company’s commitment to supporting Indonesia’s industrial growth.

According to Lo Khing Sheng, Head of MX Business at Samsung Electronics Indonesia, Samsung has been manufacturing smartphones in Indonesia since 2015. The company has steadily increased its local content percentage, reaching 37.5% for the Galaxy S25 Series.

“With our compliance with TKDN regulations, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Series ensures an optimal experience for Indonesian consumers,” stated Lo Khing Sheng in a report by Tech by Android.

This compliance guarantees that Samsung’s flagship devices will be legally available in Indonesia without any regulatory hurdles.

Conclusion

Samsung’s latest firmware update for the Galaxy S25 Series introduces groundbreaking AI features through One UI 7. While some users may be disappointed by the lack of significant hardware upgrades, the software enhancements and improved battery life make this update noteworthy.

Meanwhile, the leaked details of the Galaxy S25 Edge suggest an exciting addition to Samsung’s flagship lineup, featuring a powerful camera system and an ultra-thin design.

With TKDN certification secured, Samsung is set to dominate the Indonesian market, ensuring that the Galaxy S25 Series is available without restrictions.
