“Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life” brings five new tales to the already massive hours of gameplay including the famous Captain Jack Sparrow to boot!

Game Overview

As per GameSpot, the “Sea of Thieves” in itself is an open world sandbox pirate game that transports you and your friends in a world of piracy and swashbuckling. In itself, it already has an endless amount of fun to be had by yourself or with a group of friends.

Now add the newest expansion “Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life,” then you’re in on some amazing adventures with the likes of Jack Sparrow and Davy Jones. Oh yes, you will be teaming up with the sometimes boat-less captain himself against the mighty Davy Jones in all of his tentacle-esque glory and a new addition to the story, the Siren Queen.

The mixture of the two were a match that seemed appropriate but blew fans of both IP’s out in the ocean with the rich story content that adds five new tales that follow “Pirates of the Carribean” stories.

Windows Central has even dubbed it the “greatest crossover of all time” given just how good the match is.

What to Love in the Game

We mentioned the five new tales, right?

Tall Tale is one of the key features that really brings the story to the sandbox game with the flare of the “Pirates of the Carribean” movies. The game developer has also added in new locations that come from the movie franchise itself with amazing backdrops such as the Sunken Kingdom.

It has beautiful neon corals and a lot of aquatic plants that would surely catch your eye. In stark contrast to the Sunken Kingdom comes the Sea of the Damned, which projects a more ghostly sight with the unique color palettes when sailing between various islands.

Imagine the two locations as part of an amusement park that has all the right sceneries and context straight from the movies. Unlike the amusement park, however, you can do whatever you like in the open world sandbox that “Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life” has to offer.

Original Story Made for the Game

The story is what brings this expansion to the peak.

The story drafted by the creators has truly made the game far more superior than it already is. Each narrative gives a compelling reason to do what you need to do and the Tall Tales feels natural and doesn’t feel like deviating from what a pirate (you, of course) would usually do.

What to Improve

Unfortunately, the game is riddled with bugs and glitches that ruin the experience. One instance would be at the part of the second Tall Tale, The Sunken Pearl, with some puzzles that were literally incompletable.

Another would be when there are parts of the game that were inaccessible for each of your crew.

Despite that, if you persevere and push through all the bugs; the game itself is worth your time and lets you feel good and wish you really were all about that pirate life. “Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life” is playable on Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
